Cycling the Transamerica Bicycle Trail with Heidi

Okay...it's been a while since a post, but no worries...we're here.  There was so much rain in May and June, I think I drowned, but now I'm saved by awesome Idaho sunshine!

A very nice young woman, a Colgate graduate, cycling from coast to coast on the Transamerica Bicycle Trail Route - Adventure Cyclist - enjoyed a great tenting experience by the banks of the Salmon River at Swiftwater RV Park on July 1st.  Dear to my heart, rural community development - focusing on recreation in the Northwest - is a focus in her life.

Check out her blog as she writes about travel experiences, even the Silver Dollar Bar in White Bird, Idaho...yahoo!

Heidi, we wish you safe, speedy, and friendly cycling.  Thanks for staying at Swiftwater RV Park, and writing about the area.  Good  luck, and keep in touch!

CATCHING UP WITH THE CYCLIST

Thought I'd post about cross-country cyclist, Linda der Weltenbummler, who stayed at our Park earlier in the summer. From Florida, she spent the summer cycling from Oregon to Florida, hoping to make it back home before her leave from the Air Force concluded. She didn't quite make it in time, so is resuming the final leg sometime this coming weekend (Sept 26) - after she retires from a 23-year career.

She has a great American story to tell, and she welcomes you to check out her adventures at http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?o=3Tzut&doctype=journal (always look for the 'Journal' tab). Great photos too!

Here's a great picture grabbed from her blog when she was cycling in the rockies (isn't that background awesome):

Then, earlier in the summer when we first met her at Swiftwater:

Enjoy the last remaining dashes of summer as Fall is around the corner. The temps this morning were 42 degrees F.....brrrrr!

Adventure Cyclists

Readers are invited to join and travel along with one of last week's guests, Linda, who is cycling and blogging her way across the country. Follow her adventures at:
http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/4908

We're cleaning up the park from the weekend's windstorm, getting ready for a park-full of guests from various parts of the Northwest who have chosen their summer vacation destination at our park, and the surrounding area.

Check out this week's news White Bird news article in the Idaho County Free Press...there's a great photo of the 70' uprooted tree from the Harvey's yard on the north end of town, near the Nez Perce National Historic Park - White Bird Battlefield site. LInk for the article: http://www.idahocountyfreepress.com/IFPPeople5.shtml. The paper didn't print the other photo I submitted, so here is of the tree laying across the front of their house. (I"m learning how to post photos, so bear with me).
